2011 P United States Mint America the Beautiful Vicksburg National Military Park, Mississippi, 25-cent 5oz .999 Fine Silver Coin in Box (No Tax) Light wear on box. Includes original COA.
Minted in 2011, Vicksburg was the ninth in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program. In addition to decimal currency, each quarter received a 5oz silver bullion release crafted from 99.99% fine silver. At 7.5cm in diameter, these stunning collectables are sure to be a focal point of any collection.
The Vicksburg quarter honours the Vicksburg National Military Park in Mississippi. The park commemorates the Vicksburg campaign and siege, a pivotal moment in the American Civil War in which Union Major General Ulysses S. Grant captured the fortress city of Vicksburg, Mississippi. Vicksburg was a major port city and one of the last strongholds of Confederate power on the Mississippi River, so its surrender in July of 1863 (coupled with the fall of Port Hudson, Louisiana five days later and the near-concurrent defeat of General Robert E. Lee at Gettysburg) marked the beginning of the end for the Confederate Army.
Please note that the coin comes with its original packaging and COA, but the box shows some light wear, especially on the back.
