2021 Canada $30 Imposing Icons - White-Tailed Deer Fine Silver Coin (No Tax)
The White-Tailed Deer is the third coin in the Royal Canadian Mint's Imposing Icons series, which invites you to get up close and personal with Canada's wild animal icons. With a 50 mm diameter, the coin's reverse allows you to look deep into its eyes without any risk of startling it. This might be your closest encounter with the white-tailed Deer!
In Canada, the white-tailed deer is the most common and widely distributed large mammal. If you come across a white-tailed deer, it is likely grazing in woodland edges and pastures. However, be sure to stay quiet as the deer startles easily. At the first sign of trouble, it raises the alarm by flagging its brown tail to reveal a white underside (hence its name) as it gallops out of sight. White-Tailed Deer's are able to run at speeds of 58 km/h.
Designed by artist Maurade Baynton, the reverse features a selectively
coloured, close-up view of the white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus). The finely engraved backdrop showcases the
forest, one of the deer’s many habitats in Canada. The obverse features the
effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
