1921 Canada 5-cents ICCS Certified F-15 RARE
Called "the Prince of Canadian Coins", the 1921 5-cent is considered among the rarest of Canadian coins. Initially, the Royal Canadian Mint struck over 2.5 million silver 1921 5-cents, but in the following year Canada switched to the now familiar larger nickel 5-cent coins, and by 1929 the silver coins were being withdrawn from circulation and melted down en masse. The unsold 1921 coins remaining in the vaults were among those destroyed. It is believed that somewhere around 400 to 500 pieces survived this destruction, and these were likely sold to collectors.
