The coin's reverse depicts a red dragon with a representation of a 'pearl of wisdom'. The colour red represents success, good luck and prosperity. The Chinese character for 'dragon' and the inscription YEAR OF THE DRAGON also appear in the design with The Perth Mint's traditional 'P' mintmark.

Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.
