This stunning high relief silver coin features the Australian Kookaburra. This carnivorous bird will eat almost anything, using its strong beak to catch a wide variety of prey including lizards, insects, small birds, and snakes.
Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.
The coin's reverse depicts a kookaburra perched on a fence post amidst an Australian landscape. The design includes the inscription AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA, The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark, and the 2016 year-date.
The coin's high relief reverse and obverse are minted on concave surfaces to ensure the optimum flow of metal is achieved by the strike of the die.
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Denomination on the coin's obverse.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 8,000 of the Australian Kookaburra 2016 1oz Silver Proof High Relief Coin in this packaging from a Mintage of 10,000.
