1891 Large Leaves, Small Date, Obverse 3 Canada 1-cent ICCS Certified VF-30

Large Leaves, Small Date Variety: Leaves close to beads and vine. Narrow figure "9"

Obverse 3 Variety: Open "C" in Legend, large serif on centre bar "E" in legend.
Crown, hair and eye detail: There is only one strand of hair between the brow and the crown. The upper eyelid is doubled. There is a gap between the upper and lower lids at the corner of the eye.
Lips and chin detail: The line from the nostril to the upper lip is straight. The upper lip is thin. A thin lower lip falls to a receding double chin.
Bust line detail: A rounded bust line rests on the bead above the open "C" of Canada and is close to the bead on the right, while pointing to the bead on the left.
Portrait Obverse 3a is currently known only on the 1891 and 1892 1-cents.
