This conflict was a rebellion led by Gustav I of Sweden against Danish control of Sweden within the Kalmar Union. The conflict was sparked in part by outrage over the Stockholm Bloodbath, when the Danish king Christian II of Denmark ordered the execution of Swedish nobles and opponents. Gustav Vasa rallied support among peasants and regional leaders, particularly in Dalarna, gradually building a resistance movement against Danish forces. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eOver the course of the war, Gustav’s forces gained momentum, capturing key strongholds and receiving support from the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.
