It seems likely that they were a response to the Regency Crisis of 1788 and 1789. George III had long suffered from mental illness, but during these years he was plagued by hallucinations, seizures, and violent mania. The British government was still scrambling to find a regent to rule in his place when he suddenly recovered. This medalet overlaps the busts of George and Queen Charlotte, and dubs them, \"Patrons of Virtue.\" Text also reads, \"A Present for the New Year,\" perhaps hinting at an intended purpose.","brand":"Colonial Acres Coins","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53427571851553,"sku":"Sept.Week2.P1-KB2611","price":9.95,"currency_code":"CAD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0679\/1744\/7457\/files\/KB2611.jpg?v=1788982940","url":"https:\/\/www.colonialacres.com\/products\/sw2-kb2611","provider":"Colonial Acres Coins","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
