This medallion replicates the gold medals awarded to these Olympic pioneers. The obverse depicts Zeus, king of the gods, holding Nike, goddess of victory, in his right hand. Nike holds an olive branch above her head in triumph; wreaths of olive branches were awarded to the victors of the ancient Olympic Games. The reverse shows the historic Acropolis in Athens. The text reads, in Greek, \"International Olympic Games in Athens, 1896.\" The medallion appears to be gold-plated. On the front, the gold colouring has flaked off, exposing some of the base medal underneath.","brand":"Colonial Acres Coins","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53427571818785,"sku":"Sept.Week2.P1-KB2610","price":6.95,"currency_code":"CAD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0679\/1744\/7457\/files\/KB2610.jpg?v=1788982923","url":"https:\/\/www.colonialacres.com\/products\/sw2-kb2610","provider":"Colonial Acres Coins","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
