The conflict pit an uprising of disaffected Métis and First Nations, whose way of life was rapidly disappearing, against the North-West Mounted Police, predecessor of the RCMP. This token, which was evidently some sort of souvenir of the 1885 Dominion Exhibition, features this motto on the obverse. The reverse reads \"Exhibition Souvenir: Fish Creek, Batoche, Cut Knife.\" These were the three key battles of the North-West Resistance; Fish Creek and Cut Knife were Métis and First Nations victories, whilst Batoche marked the conflict's end when Dominion forces overwhelmed and captured Métis leaders Louis Riel and Gabriel Dumont. A hole at the top of the medallion suggests it was meant to be strung from a chain.","brand":"Colonial Acres Coins","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53401836355873,"sku":"Sept.Week1.P1-KB2534","price":59.95,"currency_code":"CAD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0679\/1744\/7457\/files\/KB2534.jpg?v=1787931523","url":"https:\/\/www.colonialacres.com\/products\/sw1-kb2534","provider":"Colonial Acres Coins","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
