Thessaly is a traditional geographic and modern administrative region of Greece. In ancient times, Thessaly was known as Aeola, and appears in Homer's The Odyssey, where the hero Odysseus visited the kingdom of Aeolus.

Phalanna was a town and city-state of the Perrhaebi in ancient Thessaly, situated on the left bank of the Peneius. In modern times, the site of Phalanna is located in the community of Damasi, near the village of Damasouli, Greece.
