Description

1963 5 Cent Original Roll (40 pcs)

The coins included in this original roll include a design of a beaver, a semi aquatic animal rising out of the water. This reverse design is complemented by an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This design of Her Majesty was first released in 1953, but it was changed later that year and underwent re-engraving to fix the hair and the shoulder details. This design also had a notable change in the positioning of the legend line as well as letter styling.
The beaver is an icon in Canada, both as a cultural heritage and a commodity. In fact, hundreds of years ago, the Hurons, a tribe in the north shore of Ontario, honoured the mammal by making them their totem. Also, native people utilized the beaver emblem to manifest their treaties with the first colonies. Commemorate the beaver and its entry to the 5-cent coin with this 1963 5-Cent Original Roll of 40 Pieces.
