Description

DC-15c 1900 Dominion of Canada 25-cent Shinplaster, Saunders, EF

In 1900, on behalf of the Canadian government, the American Bank Note Company added the 25-cent (also known as the shinplaster) to the denominations of Dominion of Canada banknotes. Only one signature adores these 1900 25-cent issued banknotes, which was the Deputy Minister of Finance at the time. Notes that were signed by J.M Courtney had the word "OTTAWA" in big bold black letters on the right side of the signature. Notes signed by his successors do not have this feature on the note.

Face Design: Britannia seated with her shield and trident, sailing ship in the background.
Back Design: Lathework and counters.
