Description

BC-27b 1937 Canada $100 Gordon-Towers, B/J, VF

The 1937 notes within the Bilingual Series were the first to include both French and English on a single note (English on the right-side and French on the left). This change occurred as it began to be too expensive to print separate notes and was featured on all denominations from the $1 to $1000 note.

In addition to this new Bilingual feature, the 1937 series was also the first time the Bank of Canada transitioned to the two-letter prefix, written as a fraction.

Specifications:
Face Design: Sir John A. Macdonald
Back Design: Commerce and Industry allegory: Seated male showing a ship to a child, dock and industrial scene in the background
Signatures: D. Gordon/G.F. Towers
Quantity Printed: 4,170,000

Information from: Canadian Government Paper Money Charlton Catalogue, 34th Edition, J. Rutkowski, Editor.
