Description

BC-5 1935 Canada $5 Osborne-Towers, English, PMG Certified VF-30

When the Bank of Canada opened for business on March 11, 1935, it issued its own notes in denominations of $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100, $500, and $1000. The notes were of the mall 6 x 2 7/8 inch format, which resulted in a saving of both bank note paper and ink. This bank of Canada issue consisted of separate unilingual English and French notes. Most of the French notes were sent to the Bank of Canada agency in Montreal for distribution, although most of the other agencies received a small amount as well.
