For 2018 the iconic Australian bird has been depicted with impeccable attention to detail in full flight against the backdrop of a harvest moon. The design brilliantly celebrates how the kookaburras’ distinctive call is often heard at dusk when the moon is rising and the birds are roosting for the night, or at daybreak as they awake.

The depth and detail of the design has been enhanced by its high relief finish. The Perth Mint’s proof quality high relief strike is renowned throughout the world for its superb clarity and the additional detail it portrays.

Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination on its obverse.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 4,000 of the Australian Kookaburra 2018 1oz Silver Proof High Relief Coin in this packaging, from a mintage of 5,000.

The coin is housed in a classic Perth Mint display case within a themed shipper. The coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
