Description

1906 Canada 25-cents Good (G-4)

The reverse design was modified in 1906 by W.H.J. Blakemore to improve die life and impart a balanced appearance to the reverse. The design modifications included enlarging and strenthening the Imperial Crown, notably the Maltese Cross on top of the crown.
An aid in identifying the large crown variety is the presence of a fold in the velvet lining inside the right side of the crown, just below the jewelled arch. This fold is not present on the small crown variety.
