2020 Canada $5 Birthstones: November Fine Silver Coin
With its famously golden colour, a topaz shines like sunshine on a fall day. November's birthstone is traditionally believed to bring strength and wisdom. It is a symbol of friendship, loyalty and affection. Flanked by three smaller Swarovski® crystals and surrounded by a Celtic art-inspired design, the colourful Swarovski® crystal at the centre is a token of good fortune—not just in your birthday month, but for the whole year.
The reverse design by artist Pandora Young is an intersection of art and mathematics, and features a stylized pattern arranged according to the base-six system. Inspired by the Celtic triskele, the engraved art incorporates three clear Swarovski® crystals into our birthstone celebration of those born in November (topaz), as represented by the gem-like Swarovski® crystal at the centre of the coin. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
