The Canada Coast Series - Bringing the Coast Closer to You

The Canada Coast Series released in 2017 was Royal Canadian Mint’s way of paying homage to Canada’s beautiful coasts. The set includes three spectacular coins, each presenting the beauty of the Canadian coast in a different way. Three main Canadian coastal regions are reflected in the set, the Pacific coast, the Atlantic Coast and the Arctic Coast.

On the face of each coin, you’ll see a view of the Canadian coast from the perspective of an arriving visitor. Each image, therefore, reflects an image that is part water and part land. Embedded in the image is a large Maple leaf, with the top appearing above the land in the sky. The bottom portion of the Maple leaf is hidden behind the mountain range while the top is reflected in the water below. The Maple leaf takes on a different hue (red, orange, golden-yellow) in each coin.

The images depicted have distinguishing features that allow the observer to discern the coastal region being showcased. On the coin depicting the Arctic coast, for example, you’ll see a dolphin basking in the water, while on the Pacific Coast coin you’ll see an orca as well as a forest leading to the mountain and on the Atlantic Coast coin there's a lighthouse in front of the mountain as well as a humpback whale diving, partially submerged in the water.

Each coin bears a 20 dollar face value and is made of 99.99% silver with a proof finish. The 2017 Canada Coast Series reveals Royal Canadian Mint’s appreciation of the natural beauty that lives on the coast of Canada and in your hand, or as a gift to someone else, this series can inspire and nurture a deep and healthy love for the coast.
