The maple leaf is a distinctive as well as proud symbol. It appeared on all Canadian coins that were minted between Confederation and 1935. At present, the maple leaf epitomizes the peace, tolerance, and unity of the Canadian people. The reverse design features two maple leaves on one twig, which was designed by G.E. Kruger Gray and was first used in 1937.
