Description

2021 P George Washington Crossing the Delaware USA Quarter Uncirculated (MS-60)

In 2021, the U.S Mint decided to release a coin illustrating General George Washington crossing the Delaware River before the Battle of Trenton during the American Revolutionary War. In December of 1776, General George Washington and his 2,400 troops, made the historic crossing of the Delaware River in preparation of a surprise attack on British and Hessian soldiers.

The reverse (tails) design illustrates General George Washington commanding his troops through an overnight crossing of the ice-cold Delaware River prior to the Battle of Trenton during the American Revolutionary War. The obverse (heads) is an image of George Washington designed by John Flanagan, used on the quarter since 1932. This design and the accompanying inscriptions return to how they appeared on the quarter prior to the 50 States Quarters Program began in 1999.
