2021 Canada $5 Moments to Hold - 25th Anniversary of Canada's Arboreal Emblem Fine Silver (No Tax)
The second coin within the 2021 Moments to Hold 4-coin series celebrates the proclamation of all 10 maple species within Canada becoming Canada's national arboreal emblem on April 25th, 1996 (25 years ago). The maple (Acer) is a historic symbol found among many of Canada's icons: its leaf proudly adorns the Canadian Flag, the leaf on the 1-cent coin from 1937-2012, maple trees used for maple syrup, and (depending on your area) found in your everyday environment.
Designed by Canadian artist Claudio D’Angelo, the coin’s reverse is double dated (“1996 2021”) to mark the 25th anniversary of the maple’s (genus Acer) designation as Canada’s national arboreal emblem. It features three sugar maple (Acer saccharum) leaves beneath the text “CANADA”. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
