The iconic 1967 half-dollar was designed by acclaimed Canadian artist Alex Colville to commemorate the 100th anniversary of our nation's Confederation in 1967; this 2020 issue also celebrates the 100th anniversary of the artist's birth. This is the fourth coin in the Royal Canadian Mint's series celebrating 50-cent piece circulation designs and reviving them with selective gold plating.
