This 1942 P Silver USA Nickel Uncirculated (MS-60) is considered a Wartime Silver Alloy Nickel composed of copper, silver, and manganese. This change in metal was introduced to eliminate the use of nickel temporarily, as it was critical war material. This is the first year the P Mint mark, representing Philadelphia, was minted on the coin.
