1994 Canada RCMP Northern Dog Team Patrol Proof Silver Dollar

Issued to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the last RCMP Northern Dog Team Patrol.

This RCMP Dog Team Patrol Coin commemorates the 25th anniversary of the last dog team patrol of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). It took place from March to April and from Old Crow, YK to Fort McPherson, NWT and back--a total of 804.5 km. The dog team patrol was led by Constable Warren Townsend and Special Constable Peter Benjamin and their sleds were pulled by 21 purebred Siberian huskies. This commemorative coin made from sterling silver, shows a reverse design made by Canadian artist Ian D. Sparkes which features a dog team that is led by an RCMP personnel.
