Sir Alexander Mackenzie is a fur trader and explorer who pioneered fur trading in Canada. He traversed the Northwest region of Canada to reach the Arctic and Pacific Ocean. And this voyage is commemorated in this 1989 Alexander Mackenzie Proof .50 Silver Coin. The coin's reverse design comes with an image of Sir Alexander Mackenzie together with his companions in their canoe exploring a river. The obverse comes with an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
