Description

BC-37cA 1954 Canada $1 Bouey-Rasminsky, *C/F, UNC

Due to the sudden death of King George VI in 1952, The Bank of Canada prepared the Canadian Landscape Series to be released in 1954. Unlike the design of its predecessors, the 1954 issued notes featured Queen Elizabeth II on the right side of the note - a tactical way to prevent folding in the center of the note. Additionally, the reverse of the note was now replaced with various landscapes around Canada.

As for printing, the $1, $,5, $20, $50, $100 and $1000 notes were produced by the Canadian Bank Note Company; whereas, the $1, $2, $5, and $10 notes were produced by the British American Bank Note Company.

Specifications:
Charlton Code: BC-37cA
Series Name: The Canadian Landscape Series
Prefix: *C/F
Signature: Bouey-Rasminsky
Certification: N/A
Variety: Replacement / Asterisk Note

Special Features
Previous to 1954, when banknotes were damaged during the printing or signing process, identical notes (with an identical serial number to the damaged note) was reprinted and sent to the proper bank. Due to this strenuous process, the British American Bank Note Co. and the Canadian Bank Note Co changed this process in 1953. Now, replacement banknotes are printed with their own specific serial number with an asterisk beside it to identify that they're replacement notes.
