2017 Niue $2 Great Migrations - The Caribou Silver Proof (TAX Exempt)
One of nature's most impressive wonders is displayed each year, when millions of animals start their great annual migration, covering vast distances in search of food, mating partners or shelter.
Each year, when spring approaches, thousands of caribou in North America start their long northbound journey towards the Arctic. This difficult journey is the longest land migration in North America and the caribou cover distances up to 2,500 kilometers (1,600 miles) a year.
The reason for the caribou migrating is to get access to plentiful food, to bear their calves in safety and to find relief from summer insects. Later with autumn arriving, the herds start their return journey back south.
The Great Migrations - Caribou 1 oz Silver Coin is the third release in this awe-inspiring coin collection from New Zealand Mint. This exciting collection celebrates one of nature's impressive wonders, when millions of animals start their great annual migration, covering vast distances in search for food, mating partners or shelter.
This stunning coin shows an engraved herd of migrating caribou against a selection of caribou highlighted in colour in the foreground.
The coin comes in a compact printed rectangular coin case, which incorporates an impressive, printed scene of this great migration. The uniquely numbered Certificate of Authenticity is presented within the packaging.
With a worldwide limited mintage of only 3,000 coins, this would make a special gift for animal enthusiasts and coin collectors.
