In honour of the 25th anniversary of the 1972 Canada/Russia hockey series. Paul Henderson's winning goal won the series for Canada.

For many Canadian sports fans, the eight-game series of Team Canada and the Soviet Union National Team in 1972 provided one of the greatest moments in the country's sporting history. Cherish this historic sporting event with this 1972 Canada/Russia Hockey Series Proof Sterling Silver Dollar Coin. Released in 1997, it celebrates the 25th anniversary of the 1972 Canada/Russia Hockey Series and Paul Henderson's winning goal for Canada. The reverse design is created by Canadian artist Walter Burden and it was inspired by an iconic painting of Andre L'Archeveque. The obverse comes with an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Dora de Pedery-Hunt.
