Description

1872H Inverted A/V Canada 50-cents Good (G-4)

Victoria Portrait Obverse 2:
Crown, Hair & Eye Detail: The hairline between the brow and crown is composed of one medium-sized strand. The upper eyelid is thin and straight. It does not join the lower lid at the corner of the eye. There is a shamrock behind the first jewel of the crown.
Lips and Chin Detail: The upper lip has a slight curl and curves outward. The crease line at the corner of the mouth is short. The chin has slight doubling.
Ribbon Detail: The right ribbon end "V" is split in the middle with the left point being longer. The ribbon bow is poorly formed creating a gap between it and the right ribbon.
Dates: Portrait Obverse 2 is currently known on the 1870 LCE, 1871, 1871H, 1872H, and 1888 50-cents.

Invered A Over V Variety: The "V" in VICTORIA contains a cross bar. The cross bar joining the arms of the "V" is narrow and sits beneath the level of the arms, while in the "A" the cross bar is much thicker and is level with the arms.
