2021 China Panda 100Y 8 Gram .999 Fine Gold (NO Tax)
In 2016, the popular Chinese Panda series changed slightly to match the metric system. The 1/4 oz Gold Panda was replaced with this 8 gram Gold Panda, still containing .999 fine Gold.
The reverse side of the 2021 Panda allows us to partake in a playful moment between a mother and its cub with the image artfully rendered using expert texturing. The coin's denominational value and weight are also included.
The obverse side has remained unchanged, with the Hall for Abundant Prayers and Harvests in the Temple of Heaven. The UNESCO heritage is encapsulated by an outer ring containing the temple's name in Chinese characters and the year of issue.
The giant panda, also known as panda bear or simply panda, is a bear native to south central China. It is easily recognized by the large, distinctive black patches around its eyes, over the ears, and across its round body. The name "giant panda" is sometimes used to distinguish it from the unrelated red panda. Though it belongs to the order Carnivora, the giant panda's diet is over 99% bamboo. In the Xizhou Dynasty, the panda was described as an invincible animal, as strong as a tiger. As a tribute to kings and emperors, a panda's pelt was often given during that time.
During the Ming dynasty, the panda was often thought to have medical powers. The pelt supposedly could repel plague and prevent tumors.
