About 150 kilometres southeast of Montreal, nestled between two mountains and crossing the borders of Quebec and Vermont, the deep black waters of Lake Memphremagog hold a mystery
Since 1816, up to eight sightings have been recorded every year - most confirmed by multiple eyewitnesses! And well before anyone kept official records, the native peoples of Lake Memphremagog told legends of monsters lurking in the lake. Since the stories about Memphre and other lake creatures - like the Loch Ness Monster in Scotland and Ogopogo in British Columbia - are so similar, some scientists think there may be a species of water animal that hasn't been discovered yet.
