The Squamish Nation expressed the history and wisdom of its sacred symbols through its culture and oral traditions. Ceremonial masks and dances were far more than theatre or art. They preserved the very essence of the people's beliefs and ideals from generation to generation.

Today, most masks are carved strictly for their aesthetic value. They are a powerful art form in their own right - one that provides a fascinating glimpse into the cultural heritage of First Nations people.
