Description

2008 Canada Olympic 25 Cent Snowboarding First Day Cover.

Keep a piece of Olympic history with you with this 25 cent coin and card cover that celebrates the event of Snowboarding and the first day of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. This coin is the sixth of 17 circulation coins released by the Royal Canadian Mint in advance of the games. Made from 94% steel, 3.8% copper, and 2.2% nickel plating, the royal Canadian coin program where this coin belongs to is the most extensive circulation program of the mentioned sporting events ever conceived by any mint entity.

Designed by Canadian artist Glenn Green of Vancouver, BC, the snowboarding circulation coin features a snowboarder in the centre, a stylized maple leaf and the words ‘Vancouver 2010’. The obverse features the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, rendered by Susanna Blunt
