2018 Canada $50 Magnificent Maple Leaves 10oz. Silver (No Tax)
While the maple leaf has long been a recognized symbol of Canada and its many beauties, you may not be aware of the numerous species that fall under the maple genus...it's the Sugar Maple, Acer Saccharum, which is celebrated in this glorious offering from the Royal Canadian Mint.
The reverse feature, set on an uncommonly spacious 76.25mm diameter coin, is a striking render of two sugar maple leaves, set on a single branch by skilled artist Celia Godkin and intricately textured for added depth. The fine-line textured field, which serves to enhance the 3 dimensional effect of the feature and which also bears the coin's year of issue, is encapsulated in a decorative frame, beset with light refracting radial lines and complete with the country of origin, weight and purity.
The coin's obverse is no less magnificent, featuring a detailed effigy of Elizabeth II, dramatically sharpened by an impressive, micro-engraved field. Encircling this immaculate effigy, Elizabeth II's regal title, as well as the coin's denominational value.
This is a coin full to brimming with remarkable, value adding features, not the least of which are the micro-engraving techniques employed by the Royal Canadian Mint, which add both a vibrant lustre and an advanced security measure to this magnificent coin.
