2016 Australia Map Shaped (#9) Great White Shark Silver Proof (No Tax)
Ninth release in the popular Australian Map Shaped Coin Series features the mighty great white shark!
The great white shark is a type of large lamniform shark, which can be found in temperate coastal waters all over the world. They live in the upper part of the ocean, closer to the surface, and close to shore, where sunlight shines through the water and prey is readily available, and easily visible.
The coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver.
The coin's coloured reverse depicts a great white shark swimming in the ocean with a shipwreck in the background. The design includes the inscription GREAT WHITE SHARK, The Perth Mint's traditional 'P' mintmark, and the 2016 year-date.
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the obverse of the coin features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Denomination, and the 2016 year-date.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 6,000 of the Australian Map Shaped Coin Series - Great White Shark 2016 1oz Silver Coin.
The coin is housed in a classic Perth Mint presentation case and custom-designed shipper. Each coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
